In a statement to the press, Pope Francis said, "It's time to forgive them for all the past suffering they have inflicted - as long as they play something cool, like Zydeco or Tex-Mex." | Alexander Klünsner sagt: Die Idee, Harmonika in der Luft zu spielen, kam bei einem gemütlichen Zusammensitzen während des Villacher Kirchtages. Wir wollten es einfach einmal ausprobieren. Dieses Jahr haben wir dieses Projekt verwirklicht und sind samt Lederhosen, Kärntner Hut und Harmonika auf die Gerlitzen zum Tandemfliegen gegangen. Es war August und zu dieser Jahreszeit sind wir oft dort zum Fliegen und auch viele Besucher sind am Startplatz um den Paragleitern zuzusehen. Es war wirklich lustig, da wir mit der Thermik einige Zeit am Gipfel vorbeifliegen konnten und die Zuschauer am Boden fleißig mitklatschten und jauchzten. - Ich war ja nur der Pilot. Martin Oberrauner ist von uns zweien der Musiker und hat bereits 1995 mit dem Spielen angefangen. Seine Harmonika hat er immer zur Hand, wenn’s gefordert ist und hat damit schon in so manche langweilige Feier, Stimmung gebracht. - Paragleiten ist unser beider Hobby, das wir vor knapp 5 Jahren gemeinsam begonnen haben. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt haben wir auch die "Carinthian Paragliders" gegründet, um unsere Aktivitäten auch mit anderen teilen zu können. - Martin kommt aus Bad Bleiberg und ich aus Villach. Auf die „Steirische“ ist Martin durch seinen Großvater gekommen, mit dessen Harmonika er immer wieder zu spielen versuchte. Das Instrument hat ihn so fasziniert, dass er sich eines Tages selbst eine gekauft hat. | Drei Wochen nach dem Finale der ORF-Show „Die große Chance“, bei der sich die Landwirtin Petra Mayer in die Herzen des TV-Publikums gesungen hat, ist bei der Zweitplatzierten Ruhe eingekehrt. Oder doch nicht? Die 24-Jährige nutzte die vergangenen Wochen einerseits um in ihren Alltag zurück zu finden, andererseits um ihr Debütalbum „Schean is des Leben“, das am 12. Dezember erscheint, fertig zu stellen. „Es kommt mir vor, als hätte ich mich gerade erst beim Casting angemeldet und jetzt ist schon wieder alles vorbei. Die Zeit ist so irrsinnig schnell vergangen. Nach dem Ende der Show hat es schon ein bisschen gedauert, bis ich gedanklich wieder zu Hause angekommen bin“, sagt die Wisperndorferin, die am Tag nach ihrem Final-Auftritt auf dem Hauptplatz ihrer Heimatgemeinde von zahlreichen Fans empfangen wurde. „Über die Willkommensfeier habe ich mich sehr gefreut, es waren so viele Menschen da um zu gratulieren. Ein wunderschönes Erlebnis, das ich nie vergessen werde“, erinnert sich die Musikerin. Doch allzu lange wird es um die werdende Mutter nicht still bleiben. So reiste sie in den vergangenen Wochen nach Bad Aussee, um dort im Tonstudio von „Seer“-Chef Alfred Jaklitsch mit dem Produktionsteam ihr erstes Album für die Plattenfirma Sony Music aufzunehmen. Weihnachtslied auf CD „Darauf werden eigene Volkslieder zu hören sein und alle Lieder, die ich bei meinen Auftritten in ,Die große Chance‘ gesungen habe. Außerdem singe ich das Weihnachtslied ,Es wird schon glei dumpa‘ mit meiner Schwester im Duett, sowie ein paar neue Überraschungen, über die noch nichts verraten werden soll“, sagt die Familienmutter, die immer wieder um Autogramme gebeten und auf ihre Auftritte angesprochen wird. Auch ihre Handynummer musste sie bereits wechseln, zu groß war der Ansturm und die Neugier von Fans und Unbekannten. „Es haben einfach zu viele Leute angerufen, das ist mir zu viel geworden“, gesteht die Bäuerin. Für die kommenden Wochen möchte sie sich in aller Ruhe auf ihre Rolle als bald dreifache Mama vorbereiten: „Der Alltag ist jetzt wieder eingekehrt und ich konnte viel Zeit meiner Familie widmen. Ich möchte mich jetzt auch schön langsam auf die Geburt im Jänner konzentrieren und Sachen für das Baby herrichten, da es eine Hausgeburt zusammen mit der Hebamme wird“, sagt Mayer, deren Ehemann Stefan schon eine Wiege aus Zirbenholz für den Neuankömmling gefertigt hat. Vor Weihnachten sind dann noch einmal zwei Album-Präsentationen mit Autogrammstunde geplant. A who's-who of Newfoundland and Labrador's traditional music scene turned out Sunday night for a man whose store helped launch their careers. About a thousand people crowded into the ballroom of Delta Hotel in downtown St. John's for the event, which raised money for Gord O'Brien, the proprietor of O'Brien's Music Store in St John's, New Foundland. The small but venerable Water Street business closed last month due to bankruptcy. The business had been in operation for 75 years. "Last night was just magical," said Shanneyganock's Mark Hiscock, who helped organize the benefit to help cover some of O'Brien's bills. Emceed by Great Big Sea's Alan Doyle, the concert featured Ron Hynes, the Masterless Men, the Navigators, Ray Walsh and numerous other performers, with the concert closing with songwriter Bud Davidge leading the crowd in a singalong of Music and Friends — the title of which was borrowed for the concert itself — and The Mummer's Song. "The roof went off the building," Hiscock told the St. John's Morning Show Monday morning as he described the finale. O'Brien did not attend the event, which also included a silent auction. Organizers are not releasing totals, on request of the O'Brien family. "We made sure that every cent possible went into Gordon's pocket," Hiscock said. "This show cost us less than $1,000 — everybody donated everything." Angela O'Brien said the outpouring of support for her father has meant a great deal to the family. "It's absolutely amazing and incredible and heartwarming to see everything come together and see all the people come out for it," she said. "Words can't express how much love we feel from the music community. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." While the store will remain closed, O'Brien plans to continue the instrument repair part of his business, albeit from his home. |

 Diatonisches Akkordeon in der italienischen Folkmusikab mittlerem Spielniveau mit Stefano "Ciuma" Delvecchio Viele Akkordeonisten hierzulande spielen auf italienischen Instrumenten; die vielfältige Folkmusik Italiens ist dagegen noch relativ wenig verbreitet. Dabei gibt es für das diatonische Akkordeon ein abwechslungsreiches Repertoire mit ganz unterschiedlichen technischen Spielweisen zu entdecken. Italien ist ein Schmelztiegel vielfältiger Kulturen, aus denen sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte die italienische Bevölkerung gebildet hat, mit ihren unterschiedlichen Liedern und Tänzen. Im Nord-Westen ist eine Tanzmusik beliebt, die mit der französischen Tradition verwandt ist. Im Nord-Osten entdeckt man den Einfluss österreichischer Musik. Im Süden, wo lange Zeit ein intensiver Kontakt mit der arabischen Kultur stattgefunden hat, finden wir obsessive Tänze wie die "Tarantella" und die "Tammurriata". Aus dem Herzen Italiens, aus der Emilia Romagna mit ihrer Hauptstadt Bologna, stammt der Referent, einer der führenden diatonischen Akkordeonisten Italiens. Die Emilia Romagna kann man als Brücke zwischen Nord und Süd und als Treffpunkt der Kulturen mit einer bemerkenswerten kulturellen Breite verstehen. Dieses reichhaltige Repertoire bildet den Schwerpunkt des Workshops. So spielen (und tanzen!) wir u.a. die "Giga", ganz klar aus Nordeuropa kommend, genau so wie den "Saltarello", der uns an die süditalienischen Tänze erinnert. Als Ausblick gibt es auch Beispiele des italienische Repertoires aus anderen Regionen mit seinen verschiedenen Spielweisen kennenlernen, sowie manche Spieltechniken, die einzigartig in der Welt sind, wie z.B. die Blasebalg-Technik in der Tanzmusik Sardiniens. Voraussetzung: G/C Akkordeon mit mindestens 21 Tasten ohne Gleichtöner auf der Melodieseite und 8 Tasten im Bass, ab mittlerem Spielniveau mit sicherer Koordination von rechter und linker Hand. Unterstützend stehen Noten mit Tabulaturen zur Verfügung. Die Unterrichtssprache ist Englisch (und ggf. Italienisch). "Ciuma" - Stefano Delvecchio, spielt seit 1988 diatonisches Akkordeon. Nach Studien in Italien und Frankreich hat er 1991 seine Gruppe Bevano Est (www.bevanoest.com) gegründet, mit der er seither bei allen wichtigen Festivals in ganz Italien und auch international auftritt. Er spielt außerdem in verschiedenen anderen Gruppen vor allem Musik aus der italienischen Folk-Tradition und komponiert für Theater und Film. | Trio Akk:zent were featured at the Coupe Mondiale concert on the 30th October in Salzburg. They performed one piece with Styrian accordion. The piece is titled: Red Love Story composed by Trio Akk:zent Paul Schuberth (accordion) Johannes Münzner (Styrian accordion) Victoria Pfeil (saxophone) It was something like musical love at first sight when the two accordionists Paul Schuberth and Johannes Münzner met each other at the accordion workshop of Professor Friedrich Lips in Imst. A similar understanding of music and the admiration for the same role models brought Paul and Johannes together and still influence their compositions. Together with Victoria Pfeil, a highly skilled musician playing the four Saxophone types, the new trio broadens the horizon of the listener for innovative ideas of sound and harmony where their music touches accordion-techno-creation, pop is camouflaged as ironically jumping jazz and atonal and orchestral sounds alternate permanently. |

| Gottfried Hubmann is introduced by Holda Paoletti-Kampl at the 2014 Coupe Mondiale concert on the 30th October in Salzburg. The group is Musikum Brass Ensemble condecuted by Christian Hörbiger and they are performing: "Harmonica Fantasy" by Gottfried Hubmann. From his childhood Gottfried Hubmann studied the Styrian accordion by himself. In 1996, he continued at the Conservatory in Graz (Styrian accordion, zither, diatonic and chromatic dulcimer) where he graduated in 2009 as "Bachelor of Arts" (BA). For many years he has focused on the Styrian accordion very intensively. As an award winner of many national and international competitions Gottfried Hubmann was invited to radio and TV broadcasts, as well as for concerts at home and abroad publishing three solo CD's and a DVD with original compositions. Gottfried Hubmann is the editor of various method books and literature for the Styrian Harmonica . Since 2008 he has been active as an adjudicator and directing the pool of experts of Austrian Accordion Association ( HVÖ). During his 17 years of teaching activity Gottfried Hubmann has taught more than 300 students, many of them winners of various national music competitions. |

Rusty Metoyer & the zydeco krush Rusty Metoyer and The Zydeco Krush is a young, energetic Zydeco band from Lake Charles, LA. They play everything from traditional Creole French songs to nouveau Zydeco music. They offer a great show that is suitable for all ages and have been known to make a crowd move. The band is led by Rusty Metoyer, a young self-taught musician native to Lake Charles. He is a 2010 graduate of St. Louis Catholic High School and is currently pursuing a Business Degree at McNeese State University. Rusty grew up with musical influences from some of his uncles as well as both of his grandfathers. All were self-taught musicians in Creole French, Zydeco, Jazz, & Blues. Staying true to his roots, Rusty learned to play the accordion through the traditional style of French music, and he is passionate about keeping his Creole heritage alive. Rusty is self-taught on other instruments as well, including drums, guitar, scrub board, and bass. He has performed with various musicians, such as Lil Wayne & Same Ol' 2 Step, Coret Ledet, Brian Jack, Brandon Ledet, Doghill Stompers, Cedryl Bellou, Jeremy Fruge, Gerard Delafose, and many more. For more information call (337) 233-4077. chubby carrier & the bayou Swamp band Born on July 1, 1967 in Churchpoint, Louisiana, Chubby is the third generation of zydeco artists with such famous relatives as Roy Carrier (father), Warren Carrier (grandfather), and cousins Bebe and Calvin Carrier who are presently considered legends in zydeco history. Chubby began his musical career at the age of 12 by playing drums with his father's band. He began playing the accordion at the age of 15. By age 17, Chubby had begun to play with Terrance Siemien and toured the world for 2 1/2 years, before forming his own band in 1989. Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band have recorded ten CDs over the past 22 years of Chubby's professional career. His band has traveled all over the world, performing to audiences in all parts of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, Canada. North Africa and Europe. Chubby and the band travel 150-175 days a year, taking his act to big festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz Fest, the Chicago Blues Fest. GARCÍA ALARCÓN BANDONEON WILLIAM SABATIER - STEPHANE CHAPUIS ORCHESTRE DE L’HEMU On connaît et revisite à l’envi les pages emblématiques du tango nuevo « inventé » par Astor Piazzolla. Mais on ignore souvent les circonstances qui ont conduit le compositeur argentin à retrouver le chemin de ses racines après s’être vu un temps le destin d’un musicien classique. L’histoire de ses Tres Movimentos (ou Sinfonia opus 15: Buenos Aires) est à ce titre emblématique. Après un chemin chaotique jusqu’à nous, l’oeuvre – qui fait appel à un large éventail de percussions et à deux bandonéons – est présentée en première suisse le 7 décembre 2014 par deux bandonéonistes (William Sabatier - Stéphane Chapuis) et l’Orchestre de l’HEMU sous la direction de Leonardo García Alarcón. Astor Piazzolla est une figure emblématique de la musique sud-américaine de la seconde moitié du 20e siècle, dont l’aura dépasse largement les frontières de son Argentine natale. Fils d’immigré italien, il voit le jour en 1921 à Mar del Plata, à 400 kilomètres au sud de Buenos Aires. Passionné de tango, son père lui offre son premier instrument: un bandonéon, l’accordéon traditionnel argentin. Il aurait préféré un saxophone car il adore le jazz. Un jour, il entend du piano dans la cour de son immeuble: c’est du Bach, joué par un ancien élève de Rachmaninov. Nouvelle révélation. En 1954, après avoir oeuvré comme bandonéoniste dans divers orchestres de la capitale, il réalise son rêve: aller étudier en Europe chez l’icône Nadia Boulanger. C’est le rendez-vous avec son destin : « Mademoiselle » (comme on l’appelle) lui montrera qu’il est possible d’utiliser les musiques populaires comme vivier d’idées tout en les enrichissant d’un langage évolué et contemporain. Ce sera l’étoile de sa vie, la révolution du tango nuevo : un art métissé totalement nouveau, qui mêle jazz, classique et folklore… n’en déplaise aux puristes des trois bords ! On connaît la suite… mais pas « l’étincelle »: une symphonie composée en 1953 lors d’un concours pour tenter de remporter 250 dollars et surtout une bourse pour partir étudier à Paris chez Nadia Boulanger. Piazzolla le remporte, embarque pour l’Europe avec la partition et l’enregistrement, qu’il présente lors de sa première rencontre avec l’illustre pédagogue. Celle-ci ne déborde pas d’enthousiasme, loin s’en faut, déclarant que « l’oeuvre est bien écrite mais manque d’émotion »: elle invite le musicien de 33 ans à retrouver l’âme de ses origines en « réinventant » le tango, forçant en quelque sorte son destin, mais privant en même temps cette éphémère Sinfonia « Buenos Aires » de toute perspective d’avenir. Il faut attendre près de soixante ans et le « flair » de l’Orchestre symphonique de Nashville pour qu’elle refasse surface, en 2010, à la faveur d’un enregistrement Naxos qui marque une nouvelle naissance pour ce chef-d’oeuvre hors norme. Après cette première américaine, la partition connaît une recréation triomphale en Belgique et dans le nord de la France deux ans plus tard, grâce à l’impulsion du chef Leonardo García Alarcón et au travail de « Sherlock Holmes » réalisé par le guitariste Daniel Romagnoli, responsable du projet « Grande Région » auprès du Conservatoire royal de Liège, qui pilote l’événement. C’est à eux que l’on doit en grande partie de pouvoir aujourd’hui goûter à nouveau à cette musique. After this first American, the partition is experiencing a triumphant re-creation in Belgium and northern France two years later, thanks to the leadership of the chief Leonardo García Alarcón and work of "Sherlock Holmes" directed by guitarist Daniel Romagnoli, project manager "Greater Region" from the Royal Conservatory of Liege. It is thanks largely to them that we can now perform this music. |

Die zwei Querdenker, der Eine - Charly Rabanser aus Neukirchen am Großvenediger im österreichischen Oberpinzgau - Schauspieler, Texter und Programmchef im gemeindeeigenen Kulturtempel, dem "Cinetheatro" und der Andere - Herbert Pixner aus Walten im Passeiertal in Südtirol - mittlerweile Wahl-Innsbrucker, Musiker, Komponist und Lebenskünstler haben in der Vergangenheit schon einige gemeinsame Konzert- und Theaterprojekte verwirklicht z.B. zwei Adventprogramme ("Still" und "Weihrauch") oder das Bluesical "Stirb langsam, Brandner!" u.v.a.m. Mit "Von Römern, Jesus und 3 Königen" hinterfragt Charly Rabanser auf diesem Album in Form eines Hörbuches ironisch-satirisch die Weihnachtsgeschichte.  OPI - Orchestra Popolare Italiana dell'Auditorium Parco della Musica di Romadiretta da AMBROGIO SPARAGNA Questo disco raccoglie una selezione di canti provenienti dal cuore della cultura di tradizione orale dell’Italia centro-meridionale le cui musiche ispirate alle forme e ai modi espressivi della Tarantella sono state elaborate e composte direttamente da Ambrogio Sparagna, adattandole alle specifiche sonorità dell’Orchestra Popolare Italiana. Antica forma di musica da danza, la Tarantella, con il suo tipico ritmo ternario vertiginoso, ha profondamente influenzato il repertorio di molti canti popolari italiani, in particolare quelli diffusi nell'ampia fascia appenninica. A partire dalla metà del XIX secolo, grazie alla larga diffusione dell’organetto, divenuto lo strumento principale della tradizione popolare italiana, questi repertori si sono rinnovati e arricchiti, generando nuove modalità espressive frutto dell'incontro tra concezioni musicali arcaiche pastorali e nuove modalità espressive. Sparagna riscopre e reinventa questi ritmi mediante l’Orchestra Popolare Italiana, una grande compagine sonora dove protagonisti sono gli strumenti tipici della tradizione musicale popolare italiana: zampogne, ciaramelle, organetti, tamburelli, mandolini, violini, chitarre battenti, ghironde, lire, ocarine e flauti di canna. Guidata dal ritmo vorticoso della Taranta questa raccolta propone uno dei tratti distintivi della musica di tradizione orale: l’essere strettamente legata al concreto svolgersi della vita, un universo esistenziale scandito dai cicli stagionali e dal calendario liturgico, in cui la musica aveva una funzione sociale, riconosciuta dalla comunità di appartenenza. Alcuni testi dei canti sono stati tratti da importanti fonti storiche letterarie come il Saggio di Canti popolari di Giuliano, apparso nel 1871 ad opera di Gioacchino e Tarquinio Fuortes e recentemente ristampato, e la raccolta di Giggi Zanazzo, Canti popolari romani, pubblicato a Roma nel 1907. Benché entrambe prive di trascrizioni musicali, queste raccolte, come molte altre dell’epoca, offrono una “fiorita di canti” emblematici della ricchezza poetica dell’espressività di tradizione orale.
