38th International Accordion Competition and Festival, Castelfidardo – Italyby Diatonic News |

 To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the accordion industry in Castelifdardo (since 1863), competition entries are free of charge for 2013.The competition, for accordion soloists and groups, is divided in two sections (classic and light as well as diatonic accordion) and nine categories. Download the competition rules and regulations at: 2013castelfidardo This year there is the ‘Accordion Video’ competition, for unpublished videos or videos, published on the web and produced by professionals or amateur video makers in the period January – July 2013. The theme of the video should be the role of the accordion in the music world and show business in general. This year’s event includes a special tribute to the great Gervasio Marcosignori (1927-2013), who passed away in tragic circumstances on March 9th, 2013. We will regularly update you with with the program, news, guests, previews etc. before the event and daily reports during the event. The Daily Reports start Thursday 19th September to 22nd September.  A Tribute to Dermot Byrne concert took place on Monday August 19th at the Marquee Tesco Car Park, Main St, Cavan. The concert was an event in the Life of Reilly Festival.Dermot Byrne, from Donegal, is one of Ireland’s leading diatonic button accordionists. A member of the band Altan, Byrne has also worked and recorded with many of Ireland’s best known musicians, including the Chieftains, Franjie Gavin, Donal Lunny and Dezi Donnelly.  EPR (Estonian Public Broardcasting) News reports the Viljandi Folk Music Festival. The 21st traditional music festival, known to many as just Viljandi Folk, got off to a start on Thursday night and continues through Sunday.Musician Margus Põldsepp has performed at all 21 Folks. "Accordion playing has caught on among the younger set" he said. "There are accordion clubs everywhere and many young instrumentalists, both male and female belong to them," Põldsepp said. This year's festival is dedicated to the sacred - rituals and feasts of different peoples. The theme is "holy commotion." |

 DANILO DI PAOLONICOLA – ETHNIC PROJECT rappresenta la somma delle esperienze di Danilo di Paolonicola in vesti artisticamente elevate. Vi si genera il connubio tra ricerca di materiale antico e composizioni originali con arrangiamenti raffinati, che restituendo una sonorità del tutto nuova che va dritta al cuore di musiche come il popolare, l’etnico, e il jazz. Danilo Di Paolonicola, fisarmonica e fisarmonica diatonica Morgan Fascioli, batteria Maurizio Rolli, basso elettrico Gionni Di Clemente, chitarra, oud, bouzuki Danilo Di Paolonicola vincitore di sei “Campionati Del Mondo” di fisarmonica diatonica (1987, ‘88, ‘89, ‘90, ‘91, ‘95), e di numerosi concorsi nazionali ed internazionali. Fra i numerosi concorsi vinti, nell’anno 2007 Danilo con il suo gruppo “Ethnic Project” vince il concorso più importante al mondo per fisarmonica jazz “Premio Città di Castelfidardo” e nello stesso anno sempre con il suo gruppo si aggiudica anche il “Premio Stefano Bizzarri” dove ha avuto l’onore di aprire il concerto di gala di Richard Galliano. Ha studiato fisarmonica varietè e musica jazz con il maestro Renzo Ruggieri, ha frequentato corsi di alta formazione presso la Berklee School a Perugia (Umbria Jazz). E’ docente del primo corso sperimentale in Italia per fisarmonica diatonica presso il conservatorio de L’Aquila “A. Casella”. Ha inciso diverse colonne sonore per Cinik records, fra cui “La Casa Sulle Nuvole” prodotto da Warner Bros. Ha tenuto concerti in Svizzera, Germania, Francia, Belgio, Croazia, Olanda, Ungheria, Austria, Bosnia-Erzegovina, etc. Si è esibito in vari Festival dedicati alla musica popolare, etnica e jazz, da ricordare il Festival Internazionale della Fisarmonica di Castelfidardo, La Casa Del Jazz a Pescara, Festival Suoni Mediterranei di Atri (TE), Giulia Jazz (TE), Campi Sonori (AQ), Serravalle Outlet Jazz Festival (AL), Strumenti & Musica Festival di Spoleto (PG), etc… Ha inoltre suonato e collaborato con musicisti come: Renzo Ruggieri, Peppino Principe, Toni Fidanza, Mauro De Federicis, Angelo Trabbucco, Gianluca Caporale, Marco Di Natale, Bruno Marcozzi, Massimo Manzi, Massimo Morriconi, Maurizio Rolli, Pierpaolo Pecoriello, Roberto Desiderio, Fabrizio Mandolini, Angelo Valori, Elsa Lila, Linda Valori, Jerry Gateshttp://www.festivalinternazionalefisarmonicacastelfidardo.com |

| I Guglielmi Brothers sono un duo composto da Alessandro e Gabriele Gugliemi, rispettivamente di 12 e 11 anni. Sono senza ombra di dubbio fra i più bravi musicisti di fisarmonica diatonica della nuova generazione. Anche se giovanissimi hanno già svolto una serie di concerti con il loro progetto in duo. Un connubio perfetto nel quale i due fratelli risaltano al meglio il loro repertorio composto integralmente da brani originali per fisarmonica diatonica. Diverse le apparizioni radiofoniche e televisive con tour e concerti in importanti festival di diversa estrazione artistica come: Festival Internazionale di Castelfidardo, Paola in Jazz, Festival Internazionale del Folclore, Pineto Italia Award, Frankfurt MUSIKMESSE, International Roland Accordion Festival esibendosi nella prestigiosa sala Sinopoli – Parco della Musica Roma dinanzi 3000 presenze. Questi giovanissimi talenti e fiori all’occhiello del loro insegnante Antonio Spaccarotella hanno partecipato e vinto innumerevoli concorsi internazionali. Alessandro Guglielmi trionfa al 61° Trofeo Mondiale C.M.A cat. Junior varietè diatonic vincendo il 1° posto conferitogli dalla Confederation Mondiale dell’Accordeon. Welcome are beginners and the talented advanced alike. Meet friends old and new in a comfortable, low-key setting with many places for workshops and spontaneous squeezings. Hobnob with (other!) free-reed aficionados and behold an assortment of squeezeboxes and their paraphernalia for sale, swap & hagglement. The Squeeze-In is held at Chimney Corners, a fabulously well appointed year round camp and conference center in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts, 30 minutes from the Lee exit off the Mass Pike and close to Tanglewood, the summer home of the BSO. Sie gehören zu den innovativsten und spannendsten Vertretern zeitgenössischer Klänge aus Portugal, denn eines spielen sie garantiert nicht: Folklore. Es sind ganz eigene Volksweisen, die oft erst auf der Bühne entstehen. Tänze mit Zutaten aus dem Tango Nuevo eines Astor Piazzollas, der Kammermusik und portugiesischer traditioneller Melodien. Ein intensives Zusammenspiel, das von langsamen Solostellen bis zu lebhaften vorwärts drängenden Rhythmen reicht und den Zuhörer soghaft gefangen nimmt.
