| Rules for Category M: Category M - Ensembles - no age limit - one round only Category M is open to any group (with no age limit) including at least one accordion or diatonic accordion (of any model) or a bandoneon or a digital accordion, that should have the main role in the ensemble. Groups may contain more than one free reed instrument or with only free reed instruments (like the ones mentioned above). Entrants must present a program of their choice lasting no longer than 20 minutes, including arrangements and creative reworking of pieces from the world music, ethno jazz, ethnic, folk and traditional repertoires. Original compositions generically inspired by ethnic music are also accepted. The jury will consider both the quality of the performance and the artistic project of the group.  At the White House, a golden moment for a great American artist, conjunto musician / diatonic accordion player Santiago Jimenez Jr.Santiago Jimenez Jnr is one of 4 recipients (and only accordionist) of the 2015 National Medals of Arts. The other three recipients were author Sandra Cisneros, film director, actor and civil rights activist Luis Valdez and playwright Moisés Kaufman. The medal was presented to Santiago Jimenez Jnr for expanding the horizon of American music. The medals, awarded annually by the National Endowment for the Arts, are the highest honor given to artists and art patrons by the U.S. government. The presentation was on the 22nd September in Washington, D.C. and made by US President Barak Obama. Santiago Jimenez Jr has helped spread traditional conjunto music, blending the sounds and cultures of south Texas and Mexico. His lively melodies performed on the button diatonic accordion have captivated audiences for decades. Congratulations, Santiago Jimenez Jr! |

 The Building Blocks of Advanced Harmonica PlayingDer Workshop von Marko Jovanovic wird mit einer kleinen Anfangssession beginnen, in der sich die einzelnen Teilnehmer kennenlernen und gegenseitig vorstellen können. Die Workshop-Themen werden in drei Blöcken unterteilt und in den folgenden Tagen ausgearbeitet: Erster Teil: Die grundlegenden Spieltechniken: - Richtige Mundstellung - die Voraussetzung für einen sauberen, wohlklingenden Ton und alle kommenden Bendingtechniken - Das Zungen / Rachenattack - Saubere Intonation durch richtige Zungenstellung und Mundresonanzraum - Übungen mit der Bending Matrix. | The 29th Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival dates are Thursday 6th October to Monday 10th October 2015 The annual festival mainly concentrates on music provided by Shetland's two most popular instruments - the accordion and the fiddle. The festival takes place over a hectic four-day period in early October. As with Shetland Folk Festival, musicians from all over the world perform at the event, although emphasis is on Scottish Dance music. Local musicians feature prominently in the event line-up. Tunes are swapped and musicians make new friends in the sessions that are an important part of the festival; younger musicians find them especially valuable in broadening their experience. Adopting the tried and trusted format of widespread community involvement, the event incorporates most areas of Shetland. It culminates in one of the biggest traditional dances to take place anywhere in the UK. Around a dozen different dance bands take it in turn to perform to 1,500 enthusiasts in the local sports centre in what amounts to a highly enjoyable "traditional rave".  The finer points of blues harmonica - 2-6/11/2016 TrossingenKurssprache / course language: deutsch / english Mittwoch (halber Tag) - Dynamik Der bewußter Einsatz von Dynamik ist ein äußert wichtiger Faktor, um deinem Spiel mehr Ausdruck zu verleihen. Wir werden Übungen durcharbeiten, um Lautstärke und klangliche Kontrolle dynamisch zu varieren, und Wege erkünden, diese Aspekte in dein Spiel sofort zu integrieren. Für Anfänger und Fortgeschtrittene geeignet. Studenten brauchen eine Harp in A. Donnerstag - Blues Bass Lines and Hooks Es macht viel Spaß, Basslinien auf der Harp zu spielen. Außerdem klingen sie gut und bieten einen wunderbar intuitiven Weg, die Harmonien besser kennen zu lernen. Um effektiv zu begleiten und beim Improvisieren geeignete Töne wählen zu können, ist es unabdingbar, die Harmonien der 12-Takt Bluesschema zu kennen und verstehen. Ein "Hook" nennt man eine kleine Figur, die in einem Song öfters wiederholt wird und dem Stück mehr Flair verleiht. Ein Stück ohne Hook kann langweilig wirken; mit einem der Hooks versehen, die ich euch beibringen werde, wirds cool. Studenten müssen das Bending beherrschen und brauchen eine Harp in A. Freitag - Das Spiel im Moll Viele Harpspieler müssen passen, wenn ein Stück im Moll ansteht. Es gibt aber ein relativ einfaches System, um im Moll spielen zu können. Wir werden uns die 3. Position anschauen (sehr intuitiv!), dann die 2. Position (weniger intuitiv, dafür vertraut), wie auch die seltenere Positionen 4 und 5. Studenten müssen das Bending beherrschen und brauchen Harps in G, A und D. Samstag (halber Tag) - Das Spiel im oberen Register Bei einer Mehrheit der Harp-Aufnahmen in der 2. Position agiert der Spieler lediglich in den Kanälen 1 - 6. Gelegentlich spielt ein Harpkünstler im oberen Register, und das kann wirklich für Aufregung sorgen. Leider mangelt es oft an guten Beispiele zum studieren. In dieser Klasse werden wir Phrasen einstudieren, die ich über die Jahre von Topp-Spielern gesammelt habe. Wir werden auch Skalen anschauen, die im oberen Register gut funktionieren, sowie Improvisationskonzepte wie die Oktav Substitution, wo man Phrasen die man bereits in einer Lage kennt, in einen anderen Bereich des Instruments versetzt.  L’Argentine, pays de migrantsComme le dit le vieil adage : « les Mexicains descendent des Aztèques, les Péruviens des Incas et les Argentins… du bateau ». L’Argentine, invitée d’honneur de l’édition 2016 a connu bien des mouvements migratoires depuis plusieurs siècles, et entre 1857 et 1940 plus de 6,6 millions d’immigrés européens débarquent en Argentine. Italiens, Espagnols, Français, Allemands traversent l’atlantique pour s’assurer un avenir. C’est un des pays au monde qui a reçu le plus d’immigrants. La musique de ce pays a donc connu de fortes influences culturelles. Le bandonéon, selon la légende, est arrivé par l’intermédiaire d’un marin anglais ou irlandais qui l’échangea contre une bouteille de whisky. Il devint l’instrument du tango vers 1880. Le Grand Soufflet, comme à son habitude, démontrera la multiplicité de ce mouvement musical qui fit le tour du monde : tango classique avec TANGO CARBÓN, ou tango hip-hop avec EL JUNTACADÁVERES, tango électro avec OTROS AIRES et humoristique avec la déjantée MARIA DOLORES et son AMAPOLA QUARTET et puis un opéra en première mondiale : L’ombre de Venceslao du musicien argentin MARTIN MATALON. D’autres propositions ponctueront cette thématique et notamment un stage de grande classe pour débutants et aficionados. Mais l’Argentine ce n’est pas que le tango. Le chamamé, musique des Indiens Guarani y trouvera sa place comme la cumbia digitale, mouvement actuel des lieux branchés de Buenos Aires, avec la venue du producteur du fameux Label ZZK, KING COYA ainsi que FAAUNA et sa « nueva cumbia » teintée de raggamuffin. La venue de PATO MACHETE, chanteur du légendaire groupe de rap mexicain CONTROL MACHETE marquera la soirée d’ouverture. Du très lourd pour démarrer ces dix jours de festival qui résonnera encore dans le département tout entier.  Fr 04.11 - Sa 05.11.2016/TrossingenRiedel Diegel lernte 7 Jahre klassische Geige, bevor er sich das Bluesharp- und Keyboardspielen als begabter und begeisterter Autodidakt selber beibrachte und 15jährig mit seiner ersten akkustischen Bluesband auf der Bühne stand. Danach prägte er als Harmonikaspieler, Keyboarder, Sänger und Arrangeur den Sound der schwäbischen Kultrockband „Schwoißfuaß“, gewann 1989 die WHC auf der Bluesharp in Trossingen und entwickelte seinen typischen, rhytmisch-rockigen Stil, den er nicht nur in diversen, meist akkusischen Bluesbands, sondern sehr gerne und wirkungsvoll auch im Rock-Pop-Genre spielt. Sein Workshop Bluesharp Basics spricht die Spieler an, die das Instrument und den Blues für sich neu entdeckt haben oder entdecken wollen und die nun entscheidende Impulse, Anleitungen und Informationen suchen, um die nächsten musikalischen Fortschritte zu machen. Aus eigener Erfahrung weiß Riedel sehr genau, an welchen Hürden man anfangs scheitert und mit welchen Hilfen diese erfolgreich gemeistert werden können. Daher deckt Riedels Workshop folgende Schwerpunkte ab: Viel Spielpraxis: Atmung Einzeltöne spielen Bendings spielen einen schönen Ton formen Vibrato rhytmisches Spielen / rhytmische Begleitung Wichtige harmonische Grundkenntnisse Blues-Schema Blue Notes und ihre Funktion Grundsätzlicher Aufbau von Soli Die Inhalte werden interessant und nachvollziehbar mit Hilfe von Beamer, Laptop, und Keyboard/Klavier vermittelt und später zu Playalongs von live-Aufnahmen seiner Band geübt. Le bandonéoniste se produit aujourd’hui au sein du Trio Esquina, dont le nom rappelle les fameux coins de rue portègnes où, d’un terreau fertile de mazurkas, valses, habaneras et autres danses de salon, a doucement germé le fier et beau tango. Precis som förra året blir det en demonstration av digitala dragspel från Roland i foajén kl 16, en timma innan konsertens start. | Squeezebox Gaúcho with Passion and Flair Ecstasy, humour and first rate virtuosity: Accordion wizard Renato Borghetti is the superstar among the nu folk musicians from Rio Grande do Sul in Southern Brazil. The charismatic gaucho has revised, adapted and modernized many of the native sounds of his home country. His shows are unforgettable live events, offering a sparkling and elegant mix of traditional forms such as Milonga, Chacacera and Chamamé with elements of Jazz, Tango and chamber music, adapting each of those forms to his unique style of accordion playing. “Borghettinho”, as his fans like to call him, has been recording cds since the beginning of the 80ies. He has shared the stage with big names such as Dominguinhos, Sivuca, Stephane Grapelli, Ron Carter and Hermeto Pascoal and is the first Brazilian musician to achieve a golden record with purely instrumental music. His direct and playful style slightly reminds of the feeling of Zydeco and Cajun in Luisiana which combines European and African elements in a similar way. And in spite of all experiments Renato Borghetti remains 100% Gaúcho – with long hair, hat and wide riding breeches.
