 The Carrefour Mondial de l’Accordeon Festival takes place from August 31 to September 4, 2017 in Montmagny, Quebec. About 34 miles east-northeast of Quebec City, Montmagny is a proudly French-speaking town that is over 300 years old and has 11,885 residents. From August 30 through September 3, the population swells to more than 50,000, most of them intent on hearing some of the finest accordionists in the world. Quote from a TripAdvisor contributor, "If you love accordion music (or even if you hate it), this place is an adventure. The Carrefour Mondial brings accordionists from all over the globe, and it seems as if every man, woman, and child in Montmagny plays some version of a squeezebox. We camped out, dined where we could (the locals provide their hearty version of baked beans), line danced, and heard the accordion stretched to its ultimate performance abilities. It was so much fun.  Video 1: Nick Villareal performs El Mayor Live in Fresno - 2012Video 2: Nick Villarreal - La I Gotta Go / La Not To Worry Conjunto and Tejano accordionist Nick Villarreal, known to many as Nicky Snick, passed away on Sunday (July 30). He was 66 years old. Villarreal was hospitalized on July 29 after suffering a cardiac arrest and was in critical, but stable condition on life support in the ICU, according to reports. He was taken off life support late Sunday and passed away. He had suffered with diabetes for many years. Villarreal was part of the musical Zimmerle family and learned to play the accordion at the age of 5 by his grandfather James Zimmerle. He eventually started his own conjunto with his brothers Roger, David, and cousin, David Zimmerle, and recorded his first 45 on Toby Torres’ recording label. Nick then recorded under San Antonio-based Joey Records. The Tejano Music Awards noted Villarreal as a "true Conjunto icon" on Facebook. “Nicky Snick” is known for his unmistakable, easy-going goofy cumbias and he credits the many conversations he had with his mother, María Luis Zimmerle-Villarreal, as inspiration for many of his greatest hits. Some of those hits include “Kool-Aid con Hielo,” “La ‘Not to Worry, ‘” and “La ‘I Gotta Go.'” |

Isabella wird euch an diesem Wochenende davon überzeugen, dass mit der chromatischen Mundharmonika – sie ist übrigens das einzige Ateminstrument der Welt – wirklich fast alles möglich ist.Anhand eines einfachen Zahlensystems könnt ihr auch ohne Vorkenntnisse sofort anfangen und kommt ganz schnell in den Genuss, auch ohne Notenkenntnisse erste Melodien zu spielen. Wenn ihr dann noch mit der richtigen Atemtechnik vertraut seid, ist eben praktisch “alles”, vom Blues über den Tango bis hin zu Westernmelodien, möglich. KURSLEITUNG Isabella Krapf spielt seit ihrer Kindheit mit Leidenschaft Mundharmonika und hat sie schließlich sogar zu ihrem Beruf gemacht. Die beiden machen ganz schön viel gemeinsam: Auftritte, Unterricht, Ausstellungen zum Thema, bis hin zu Reparaturarbeiten am Instrument.  Sessie diatonisch accordeon gevorderdenmaximum 12 deelnemers Voor gevorderde accordeonisten vanaf 16 jaar die benieuwd zijn om nieuw repertoire te ontdekken. Zoek je een inspirerende ontdekkingstocht naar onbekende, mooie en authentieke trekzakmuziek? Welk soort diatonische accordeon je mag hebben, er zit op elk type een instrument verborgen waarop veel traditionele muziek is gecomponeerd: de éénrijer oftewel het melodeon. Onder het motto back-to-basics heeft Wim zich de afgelopen jaren verdiept in wat er allemaal aan originele éénrijermuziek bestaat en staat hij nu te popelen om al die zalige en verrassend makkelijke muziek met jou te delen. Een unieke kans om kennis te maken met de verschillende traditionele stijlen van over de hele wereld waarin het melodeon een rol speelt, denk maar aan Ierland, Louisiana, Quebec, Zweden en Centraal-Frankrijk! Zeker meenemen: een zo licht mogelijke diatonisch accordeon of melodeon met een C-rij zonder omgedraaide toets. Wie een melodeon heeft in een andere toonsoort dan C, mag die ook zeker meebrengen. Wim Claeys Wim is zanger, muzikant, cabaretier, volksliedjesexpert, componist, Gentse Feestengangmaker, Boombalbezieler, trekzakmentor, Gentse Zangstondedirigent en folkartiest. Deze duizendpoot werd lang geleden tijdens een stage in Gooik verliefd op de diatonische accordeon en startte zijn muzikale carrière bij Ambrozijn, Göze en Tref. | Frankrijk 5 – 12 aug Een week lang tango spelen, dansen en yoga in La Douce France op het landgoed van La Maison Neuve (Chatellerault) van 5 tot 12 augustus. MUZIEK De muziekworkshop staat open voor (semi) gevorderde en professionele musici. De ensembles en arrangementen worden gemaakt en gevormd naar het niveau van de spelers. Je krijgt op voorhand de partituren tot je beschikking zodat je de tijd hebt om de stukken voor te bereiden. Tijdens deze week spelen we het traditionele tangorepertoire en nieuwe composities, en maak je zodanig kennis met de ritmische, melodische en harmonische rijkdom van de tango. Elke avond is er een milonga (tangosalon) waar we het ingestudeerde repertoire zullen uitvoeren. Naast de ensembles is er elke dag een korte lezing over tangomuziek met uniek beeldmateriaal.  The Trifilio Tango Trio dazzled an audience of 120 at the July meeting of the Washington Metropolitan Accordion Society (WMAS). The Trio, consisting of Devree Lewis (cello) and Argentinians Emmanuel Trifilio (bandoneon) and Cristian Perez (Guitar) performed some of Emmanuel Trifilio’s original compositions, such as Milongacha, Una Noche en la Habana and La Holy Milonga, as well as “old standards”, such as Libertango. The Washington based Trifilio Tango Trio got several standing ovations and sold out of the CDs that they brought with them, something that rarely happens. Voor gevorderde muzikanten vanaf 16 jaar die gemakkelijk melodieën op het gehoor leren, vlot overweg kunnen met hun instrument en probleemloos een melodie kunnen spelen. Begeleiders (contrabassen en percussionisten) moeten in staat zijn om de groep sterk te kunnen ondersteunen en ritmevast zijn. Accordeonisten met een diatonische accordeon moeten een instrument met drie rijen hebben en gewoon zijn om in andere toonaarden te spelen. Alle instrumenten zijn welkom, graag bij inschrijving vermelden welk(e) instrument(en) je precies speelt. Toon leert vette tunes op het gehoor aan om er dan samen een boeiend en swingend verhaal van te maken. Ook gaan we dieper in op speelstijlen, akkoordenleer, arrangementen en improvisatie. Op de laatste dag van de stage brengen we samen vol overgave al onze nieuwe nummers tijdens een concert voor een enthousiast publiek. Zingen en trekzak spelen tegelijk lijkt moeilijk, maar als je het ritme en de melodie aanpast en versimpelt wordt het zingen met de trekzak ineens een stuk makkelijker en leuker. Heb je het lied eenmaal in de vingers en in je hoofd dan kun je variaties gaan aanbrengen. We gaan een vocaal stuk dusdanig aanpakken dat het mogelijk wordt om het mee zingen op de trekzak in CF. Niet alles draait om de techniek! Ook het gevoel speelt een belangrijke rol bij het zingen en ook bij het bespelen van het instrument. | La Pro Loco di Aviano ed il gruppo Folkloristico Federico Angelica organizzano durante il mese di Agosto una serie di manifestazioni culturali e di promozione turistica tra cui spicca il Festival Internazionale del Folklore Aviano-Piancavallo. Il Festival Internazionale del Folklore Aviano Piancavallo che si svolge in Piazza Duomo ad Aviano, s'impone come uno degli eventi più importanti della Regione, sempre più considerato uno spettacolo di rilevante interesse culturale e turistico che vuole favorire il consolidamento dei rapporti tra i popoli lanciando un messaggio di fratellanza e tolleranza, si prefigge un'elevata qualità artistica e persegue la più ampia partecipazione di spettatori anche in considerazione dei benefici che questi portano alle attività locali. Come ormai da consolidata tradizione, il festival è approdato inoltre a Pordenone, Spilimbergo, Barcis, Montereale Valcellina, Talmassons, Villa Santina e Villa Manin.  Sessie diatonisch accordeon gevorderdenmaximum 12 deelnemers Voor gevorderde accordeonisten vanaf 16 jaar die hun instrument voldoende beheersen, verschillende ritmes onder de knie hebben (2/4, 3/4, 6/8), de positie van de voornamelijkste akkoorden op 2 rijen aan de rechterkant kennen en vertrouwd zijn met op het gehoor spelen. Deelnemers moeten een basiskennis Frans hebben om de sessie te kunnen volgen. Op het gehoor leren we nieuwe traditionele folkmelodieën en eigen composities van Bruno. We ontdekken daarbij wat de vele mogelijkheden zijn van arrangement en harmonie. Bruno focust ook op versieringen, verschillende stemmen en akkoorden. Genoeg materiaal om zelf later thuis mee aan de slag te gaan! Zeker meenemen: diatonische accordeon in stemming G/C (sol/do) met minimum 2 rijen en een opnameapparaat Bruno Le Tron (FR) Als één van de Franse grootmeesters op diatonisch accordeon wordt Bruno getypeerd door zijn eigen stijl vol energie. Hij voelt zich als een vis in het water in de traditionele muziek uit Centraal-Frankrijk en Bretagne, maar staat intussen al meer dan 30 jaar op internationale podia met groepen als Tref, Maubuissons, la Cie du beau temps en Samuraï. Tijdens zijn goedgevulde muzikale carrière gaf hij veel stages over heel Europa en creëerde hij tal van composities, denk maar aan de klassieker Valhermeil. Toon Van Mierlo (Novar, Hot Griselda) en Pascale Rubens leerden elkaar 14 jaar geleden kennen op het festival Andanças en vormen sindsdien meer dan een muzikaal duo. Ze brengen steeds uiterst dansbare folk met verfijne maar stevige energie én met veel passie en enthousiasme. Toon zal tijdens de Stage voor Traditionele Volksmuziek ook de sessie samenspel met veel plezier begeleiden. Aan hun uitgebreide instrumentarium (diatonische accordeons, doedelzakken, sopraansaxofoon, viool, klarinet, whistles en zang) voegt het koppel in kwartetvorm veel extra snaren toe. Samen creëren ze een eigenzinnig en swingend universum waar het ook als luisteraar fijn vertoeven is. De muziek is in de eerste plaats uiterst dansbaar, maar wandelt graag op de grens tussen luister- en dansmuziek. | The popular diatonic accordionist Sharon Shannon lives in a rural setting in County Galway, and loves the countryside, animals and wildlife, evidenced by this video in which her playing gets a warm response from some cows in a field. The video has been shown on the RTE news on the Irish TV channel and several newspapers mentioned it, and very quickly, there was over 500,000 views. Sharon Shannon plays the 2-row button accordion, melodeon, fiddle, and tin whistle. Originally a competitive show jumper, she switched to playing music professionally in the mid-1980s, and has since enjoyed a very successful international career. She plays mainly as a soloist with her own backing musicians, and is especially popular with younger audiences, usually playing to sell-out venues in Ireland and around the world. |
