| 79. Villacher Kirchtag noch bis 04. August 2024 Der große Erfolg, der dem ersten Kirchtag beschieden war, veranlasste die Organisatoren den Villacher Kirchtag auch weiterhin durchzuführen und nur die Kriegsjahre des 2. Weltkrieges von 1940 bis 1947 sowie die Pandemiejahre von 2020 bis 2021 brachten eine Unterbrechung in der Reihe dieser Veranstaltung. Wenn beim großen Trachtenfestzug am ersten Samstag im August 40.000 bis 50.000 Zuseher:innen an die 4.000 Trachtenträger:innen bewundern, kann der Villacher Kirchtag auf eine lange Tradition zurückblicken, welche immer im Interesse des Brauchtums und des Ansehens unserer Stadt lag. Am 7. August 1948 wurde der Villacher Kirchtag als erste große Veranstaltung nach dem Krieg, dank der Initiative einiger beherzter Männer, wieder durchgeführt. Die ganze Stadt wurde zum Tanzboden, erstmals konnten Speisen und Getränke ohne Lebensmittelkarten erworben werden, und nach einer Reihe von Jahren der Finsternis, erstrahlte die Innenstadt wieder in einem Lichtermeer. | Cotati Accordion Festival on August 16-18, 2024 - At La Plaza Park, Cotati, CA Mission Statement The Cotati Accordion Festival is a non-profit organization established in 1991 to promote the love of the accordion and to help fund music programs in the local schools. The Cotati festival was presented as a community service, free to the public. It was held in the downtown plaza under the oaks. The response was overwhelming. “we were amazed at the reception and response to our idea. It tickled the fancy of music lovers locally, nationally and internationally!” recalled Buck-Kauffman. Boggio put it a different way, “The thing that struck me was all those smiling faces. People of all ages dancing, listening, tapping their feet — all with smiles on their faces.” Much to the elation of those responsible (and to the surprise of the skeptics) the first outdoor Cotati Accordion Festival was conducted and concluded on a highly successful note. | 35th edition of the World Accordion Fair from August 30th to September 1st, 2024 The Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon was established more than 35 years ago in Montmagny, a town in Quebec’s Chaudière-Appalaches region. The festival has grown into a major international event. Each year, it features some 75 musicians from all around the world. Selected artists give street performances, filling the town with the lively and diverse sounds of the accordion. Over the span of three days, festival-goers can travel through time to discover (or rediscover) well-known musicians. World music, Quebec traditional, musette, classical, jazz… there’s something for everyone! Activities are held place in concert halls as well as at various outdoor venues. Exhibitions, musical entertainment at restaurants, workshops and a traditional dance party are all included in the festival program. It features more than 30 concerts that give visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in local Montmagny culture. | Die „Innbrüggler“ sind eine 6-Mann Tanzlmusi aus Hall in Tirol unter der Leitung von Franz Posch. Das Repertoire umfasst Volksweisen, Blasmusikmärsche, Böhmisch-Mährische Musik, Inntaler Stücke und „Selberg’strickte“. Ein Anliegen der Innbrüggler ist es, Tanzlmusi so frisch und lebendig wie möglich zu spielen, d.h. es ist auch sehr viel Raum für Improvisation. Mit Ausnahme der beiden melodieführenden Instrumente, musizieren alle anderen Instrumente relativ frei und spontan. Es gibt kaum ein Stück, das zwei Mal gleich gespielt wird. Danny’s musical style is expressive and deeply personal and reflects his affinity with the music of past masters. In 2013, he received the Top Button Accordionist award from the Irish Music Association in America. His highly praised debut solo album, “In Retrospect,” was released in 2011, followed by a collaboration with Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh on “As It Happened” a year later. Since 2004, Danny has hosted and produced a weekly radio show on Radio Kerry.  The 2024 Susquehanna Folk Festival will take place at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown York, Pennsylvania, USA, from August 9th to 11th, 2024.The Susquehanna Folk Music Society (SFMS), based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is a nonprofit education and arts organization dedicated to the advancement, promotion and preservation of traditional, contemporary and international folk music and folk culture. Every year, Susquehanna Folk presents dozens of events, from concerts to our big summer festival to intimate workshops. Our events feature artists from around the globe as well as hometown performers. Many of our events have a "hands-on" component that strengthens the connections between music and folks. In addition, SFMS brings folk culture into local schools each year through Arts in Education residencies. “Poor Man's Gambit” are thrilled to be performing at the opening concert on August 9th at 7.30pm.  Herbsttreffen 2024: 11. bis 13. Oktober 2024Nach dem Herbsttreffen 2024 im bewährten Schieferpark, geht es im Frühjahr 2025 an den Geburtsort der Konzertina: der Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz, in der Carl Friedrich Uhlig die Deutsche Konzertina erfunden hat. Mit ca. 20 TeilnehmerInnen hat das KonzertinaNetz-Treffen eine recht überschaubare Größe mit Schwerpunkt gemeinsam Musizieren (z.B. die Stücke auf der Melodienseite). Allerdings hat sich das Treffen auch zu einer Anlaufstelle für Anfänger entwickelt, so dass bei Bedarf für Deutsche Konzertina und Anglo Starthilfe angeboten werden. Interessenten, die noch nicht wissen, welche Konzertina sie kaufen sollen, bilden die dritte Besuchergruppe. Hier kan man die verschiedenen Typen sehen, hören, antesten und sich beraten lassen. Deutsche Konzertina, Anglos, Englische und Duet sind hier die gängigen Instrumente, aber auch Chemnitzer, Carlsfelder und Bandonions sind regelmäßig vertreten. Einige Teilnehmer haben auch andere Instrumente dabei, was das Musizieren bereichert. Deswegen sind auch MusikerInnen mit anderen Instrumenten ausdrücklich eingeladen, obwohl es ein Konzertinatreffen ist! Das Treffen lebt von der Musik, die die Teilnehmer mitbringen. Questo evento celebra anche il 45° anniversario della fondazione dell’associazione, segno di un impegno costante nella promozione della cultura folkloristica. | noch bis 3. August 2024 Die FolkCamp-Bewegung stammt aus England, und das prägt die Veranstaltung. Hier in Deutschland treffen sich Folk Camper zu Musikworkshops, Tanz und Gesang im romatischen Schloss Zeilitzheim/Unterfranken. Wer nicht zeltet, bucht ein Zimmer im Dorf oder im Schloss. Campingbusse kommen auf privaten Stellplätzen im Dorf unter. Folk Camp Germany e.V. bietet jährlich eine Ferienwoche an, in der Teilnehmer jeden Alters und jeder Nationalität zusammenkommen und traditionelle Musik, Gesang und Tanz pflegen. Musik und Tanz sind überwiegend englisch. Sich selbst einzubringen ist ein elementarer Bestandteil des Folk Camps. Musik und Tanz werden von renomierten englischen FolkmusikerInnen angeleitet. 2024 werden das sein: Rachael Hales: Eine Geigen- und Violaspielerin mit einer Vorliebe für Ceilidhmusik und Tanzleiterin aus Newcastle upon Tyne. | Summer Festival – 3rd and 4th August 2024 In and around the town centre of Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire Melton Folk Festivals are free festivals taking place around the town centre of Melton Mowbray and organised by members of the Melton Folk Club. They normally organise two festivals each year. One is in the height of summer, usually the first weekend in August. The second is in winter, usually falls on the second weekend of December, and is also billed as The Melton Mowbray Christmas Folk Trail. Each festival consists of a large number of acts performing in various venues around the Melton Mowbray town centre. The acts cover a wide range of styles from very traditional to very contemporary. They may be individuals or groups and, whilst most are fairly local, acts from further afield are also attracted to perform at our events. Acts are scheduled to perform in 40 minute time slots at each venue. Many acts choose to perform as many as six times in different venues over the weekend whilst others perform in fewer slots, perhaps only on one of the days. In addition to the performance slots a number of singarounds or sessions are scheduled over the festival including an introductory one on the evening of the day prior to the festival itself. All are welcome to attend these as audience or participants. The more the merrier and they provide a good chance to meet up with old friends and make new ones. They have been equally successful in performing on large concert podiums, symphonic halls, theater stages, classical chamber halls, tango balls, gran milongas, festivals as well as in other places where the spirit of tango revives. From a young age he grew up experiencing Mardi Gras, hurricanes, Community Coffee with Chicory, and Sunday morning family outings to the Cafe duMonde and the French Market in N.O. However, his musical world was comprised of listening to New Orleans sounds because of the proximity. There was no Zydeco dance scene near him when growing up. You had to go to SW Louisiana for that. After moving to California, he joined the local scene, and was bowled over by Zydeco. First spending many sweaty days and nights as a dancer in the vibrant Bay Area Cajun/Zydeco scene, then as a rubboard player with bands like Sonoma County's Gator Beat, then as a single row and double row accordion player, he has been endeavoring to bring his ingrained dance rhythm to the community he had become a part of. Included in the standard line-up of the band is Sonoma resident Nazar Eljumaily on guitar. Dwight and Nazar met through Sonoma County based Zydedo Band "Gator Beat". Nazar also currently plays with the Sonoma based band Wildflower Weed. Let's just say, Nazar ROCKS! South Bay artist Dana Mandell fills in on bass, and we're all backed up by Sonoma County's Kevin Dillon on drums. To keep in practice, Dwight also plays solo gigs at Bay Area farmers markets. | Le trio enregistre son premier album au printemps, avec pour fil conducteur le choix de textes poétiques écrits par des femmes dans la tradition ou plus récemment. Les œuvres de Valentine Colleter, Philomène Cadoret, Thérèse Dufour, Anjela Duval, Constance Le Merrer, Augustine Le Mansec, Clarisse Bailleul, ont ainsi été choisies pour porter les mélodies chantées par Anne-Cécile et Katell. Après une résidence à l'Abbaye du Relec à Plounéour-Ménez, le trio a été enregistrer avec Aurélien Tanghe au Studio des Hirondelles à Flines-lès-Mortagne (59). | Orquestrina Trama starts on 2013 between the Catalan regions of La Cerdanya and L'Alt Urgell, in the Pyrenees mountains. The members of the band are a group of young musicians strongly bound to the traditional Pyrenean music and culture, since they have got the privilege of living, knowing, learning and growing in this territory. Their thrill is to revive the tunes and songs that, hidden behind their mountains, define best a way of life and understanding the surrounding world pretty particular. Inspired by dance music that used to be played many years ago in the streets and squares of Pyrenean villages, they address to the audience through their own style, which spreads their energy around and involves everyone in the party. Vingt-cinq ans de danse de Vendée/Poitou, de bals à travers la France et l’Europe, et voilà que les cartes sont rebattues, la musique nouvelle, une autre dynamique mais toujours cette envie folle de porter la danse ! L’éternel bonheur de la musique qui devient mouvement, du mouvement qui devient plaisir… Ayab’ n’est pas un testament, ni un bilan, juste une photo prise à un carrefour d’histoires.
