 What are you doing for World Accordion Day to promote the accordion in your country? World Accordion day is on May 6th, which is the day the accordion was patented in 1829.World Accordion Day was started in 2009 by the CIA and has been very successful, generating a lot of positive publicity for the accordion. A key part of this event is the World Accordion Day website. Every association, group, orchestra, performer and teacher, is asked to actively support this event by encouraging national and local accordion activities to happen in their country on this day or the weekend either side of Accordion Day if that should be more convenient. Everyone can register their World Accordion Day activity on the website and send a report of their event after, for that website. No event is too big or too small. ALL accordion events celebrating World Accordion Day are welcome. This is a CIA promotion for the accordion in which every accordion enthusiast can participate and help bring our accordion world together as well as strongly promote the accordion. |

| 1999 fand die 1. Harmonika-WM in Außervillgraten/Osttirol statt und war gleich ein sehr großer Erfolg. Im Jahre 2003 wurde dieser Erfolg wiederholt. Danach ging der in der Zwischenzeit sehr etablierte Wettbewerb „auf Reisen“ und kehrt nun zum 10. Jubiläum wieder in das malerische Tal in Osttirol zurück!  Excerpts from an article written by Steve Bandy, Rayne Acadian-Tribune.Interest is growing in the Frog Festival Accordion Contest, where the winner in the adult division walks away with a brand new handmade accordion. The contest, to be held under the Frog Festival Pavilion on Saturday, May 13, has been expanded slightly due to the overwhelming interest shown in the inaugural event, according to Blaine Dupont, chairman. Last year’s contest saw a total of 14 participants in three age division. In the Youth (ages 10 and under) and Junior (ages 11 through 17) divisions, top three winners are awarded cash prizes. The Adult Division is a winner-take-all contest, with first place awarded the accordion. All competition rules, regulations, and registration forms will be available at www.raynefrogfestival.com |

El festival pretende recuperar y difundir tanto las danzas tradicionales como la música folk europea, haciendo de ellas un instrumento para la integración de diferentes culturas, combinándolas con acciones de sensibilización ecológica y consumo responsable, además de una serie de actividades participativas para adultos y niñ@s. La 7ª edición de "Folkarria eco Festi-bal" se desarrollará una vez más a lo largo de todo un fin de semana, presentando una oferta musical de grupos nacionales e internacionales. Además, habrá talleres de instrumentos y talleres de danza de diversas partes del mundo y actuaciones del folklore español tradicional para todos los públicos. In Jackie Daly’s case, the title of laoch, or hero, is added to that of Gradam Ceoil winner, All-Ireland senior accordion champion — the only Corkman to win either award — and doyen of Sliabh Luachra box-playing. His anecdotes are as much a tradition of his performances as the tunes. He tells another anecdote about Galway accordion maestro Joe Burke, who visited Jackie in hospital in Cork after he suffered a brain haemorrhage. “The doctor was testing me and Joe said ‘Doctor I know what’s wrong with him. His head is full of slides and polkas rather than decent jigs and reels’. I said ‘Joe, thank you for visiting me. I’m going to compose a tune in your honour’. I did, and it’s Joe Burke’s polka. People say to him Joe, play your polka, so I definitely got my own back. He’s never played it.” |

 Von 28. bis 30. April 2017 sind alle Interessierten zum 13. Schwäbischen Harmonika-Seminar nach Krumbach eingeladen. Bekannte Musikanten und Lehrer aus der Volksmusik geben gerne Ihr Wissen weiter, folgende Ziele sollen im Einzelunterricht verwirklicht werden: •Kennenlernen des Instruments •Erlernen der Spieltechniken (Fingersatz ...) •Ausprobieren des freien Spiels (ohne Griffschrift-Notation) •freies Zusammenspiel (Begleiten ….) •... und natürlich: Spaß am Musizieren zu finden! Krumbach Eingeladen sind alle, die Interesse am Harmonikaspiel haben, ob fortgeschritten, ob Anfänger, ob mit oder ohne Instrument (Leihinstrumente können zur Verfügung gestellt werden). Das Seminar ist auf 60 Teilnehmer begrenzt. Es wird empfohlen sich rechtzeitig anzumelden, denn die Plätze werden entsprechend der Reihenfolge der Anmeldungen vergeben. Dougie MacDougall of Alturlie and Special Friends Brechin All Records CDBAR028 YOU cannot accuse Inverness accordionist Dougie MacDougall of rushing into the studio. A much admired figure on the traditional music scene, Dougie is releasing this album at the age of 87, and only after years of persuasion from fellow box player Sandy Brechin, who produces and makes a guest appearance here. Over a generous 20 tracks, there are jigs, reels, airs and Gaelic waltzes – all you could expect from a set from one of the most admired box players in the business, and there is no hint that the musician is heading for his 90th year on those more sprightly numbers like Spootiskerry, although he does bring things to a gentler close with the title track, better known as the Gaelic song An Aitearachd Ard. Well supported by producer Brechin and almost 20 guests, this is toe-tapping stuff to get the ceilidh started. |

| Stage di organetto diatonico con FILIPPO GAMBETTA AMMIRATO CULTURE HOUSE, LECCE Sabato 8 Aprile ore 17.00 - 20.00 Domenica 9 Aprile ore 10.00 - 13.00 Continua la rassegna di stage dedicata alla divulgazione artistica e accademica dell’organetto diatonico, attraverso l’incontro con strumentisti provenienti da diverse aree geografiche e musicali organizzata da Claudio Prima. Dopo il primo ciclo di incontri con Riccardo Tesi, precursore del movimento di riscoperta dell'organetto in Italia, è la volta di Filippo Gambetta, giovane e affermato organettista genovese che ha di recente pubblicato il suo lavoro discografico Otto baffi, vincitore del premio Città di Loano come miglior disco di musica tradizionale italiana. Il suo stage si terrà nei giorni 8 e 9 Aprile all'Ammirato Culture House in via di Pettorano 3 a Lecce. Nello stage Filippo Gambetta proporrà due brani di propria composizione contenuti nell'album Otto Baffi. Partendo dalle due melodie, si approfondiranno aspetti come l'accompagnamento della scottish e delle melodie ternarie terzinate. Durante il corso verrà dato spazio all'interpretazione e all'ornamentazione nella musica tradizionale irlandese e, in generale, all'accentazione delle melodie tradizionali. Verranno proposti esercizi sulla dinamica e sulla pulizia nell'esecuzione di repertori caratterizzati da apri e chiudi costanti; si lavorerà inoltre sugli accordi nell'organetto in sol/do e sui loro arpeggi e rivolti L'accompagnamento ritmico con l'organetto verrà sensibilizzato partendo da pattern ritmici caratterizzati da figurazioni ritmiche differenti tra mano sinistra e mano destra. Per frequentare il corso è necessario essere in possesso di un organetto in SOL/DO a due file e otto bassi (o modelli superiori che mantengano possibilmente invariate le caratteristiche del sopracitato tipo di strumento) Lo stage si inserisce in un programma di appuntamenti di ricerca centrati sull'organetto, che proseguiranno durante l'anno e che hanno come obiettivo la divulgazione e lo sviluppo della conoscenza dello strumento in Puglia. Theo Knopf, ein erfahrener Konzertinamusikant und Kenner dieses Instruments, betreut jeden Teilnehmer individuell. Leihinstrumente können zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Terminänderung vorbehalten Mitveranstalter: Bezirk Oberfranken Leitung: Theo Knopf Theo Knopf wurde am 1. Februar 1935 geboren und ist heute in Bayreuth wohnhaft. Die Konzertina zu spielen, lernte er bereits mit acht Jahren, angeregt durch seinen Vater, der auch schon das Instrument nach Ziffernschrift beherrschte. Erst viel später, als Theo Knopf bereits 47 Jahre alt war, nahm er in Pegnitz bei Fritz Pastyrik Unterricht, um nach dessen Lehrkonzept nun auch nach regulärer Notenschrift spielen zu lernen. Knopf spielt heute teilweise nach Ziffernnotation, teilweise nach Noten oder einfach nach Gehör und auswendig. In seinem Repertoire führt er über 80 verschiedene Tänze, ältere Schlager und Spielstücke von Andreas Hader, wie etwa der Ostergalopp "Ds Madla von dr Gmaa". Theo Knopf komponiert auch eigene Stücke, wie etwa die bekannt gewordene Degelmann-Polka oder diverse Ländler und Walzer. Er bevorzugt unter seinen Instrumenten die vierchörige Haustein-Konzertina (in Es) sowie eine vierchörige Birnstock-Konzertina (in C) mit Tonabnehmer, da er ab und zu auch im Freien aufspielt. Er musiziert zur eigenen Unterhaltung oder zur Unterhaltung im Freundeskreis, im Wirtshaus, bei Tanzveranstaltungen und bei privaten Festen.
